About Myself
Hi, I’m Alex - a designer based in Seattle. I’ve been designing products for almost two decades but I’ve had a lifelong interest in technology. As a kid I built up PCs with sound cards, video cards and modems just to see how I could communicate and interact with other people.
In college I worked in a Language, Memory and Cognition Laboratory and continued my research work afterwards in Boston. I blended my passions for technology and psycholinguistics and designed some of the earliest commercial Voice User Interfaces.
I then studied Human Computer Interaction at Carnegie Mellon and have been designing communication and collaboration products on the west coast ever since at small startups and large companies. Recently I went back to the University of Washington to study data visualization and am focusing now on blending great data visualization into education products.
