Skype
Lync (Skype for Business) on a Windows 8 Tablet
I led the design for the first touch-based Skype for Business application on Windows 8. This is one of two Office Applications that shipped with Windows 8. I worked closely with the Windows and Office Design teams to ensure that our design patterns were in accordance with the overall release. I designed a multiple canvas view for video, instant messaging and content and received a patent for the design.
USB Powered Phone
My first project for Skype for Business was designing a USB powered desk phone to replace a prior one with poor customer feedback. I worked closely with Industrial Designers, Mechanical and Acoustical engineers to design a superior replacement product. We licensed the design to Polycom and now the Polycom CX-300 is the most popular and well reviewed Skype for Business device.
Skype Integration in Outlook
After working on hardware, mobile and desktop client software I started to look at how the Skype experience could be reflected the best on the web. I led a team in India working on our initial Skype for Business web version. Above, is my original design for Skype on Outlook.com which is almost identical to what actually shipped.
Lync 2010 VoIP Phone
Along with designing hardware for Skype for Business, I also designed the corresponding experience on our Windows Client.
